Food Industry

Located at the heart of a significant region of agricultural and market production, the food industry undoubtedly occupies a select place in the economy of Agen. Unique in France, the
Agropole makes all technical, legal, financial resources as well as a research centre and specialised training available to project managers.
Today, Agropole consists of more than 100 enterprises over 70 hectares (Le Magicien Vert - Pampryl - Raynal-Roquelaure - Bonduelle...) which employ 1,700 people.
The pharmaceutical industry

The laboratories of the
Bristol-Meyers Squibb UPSA site, the world leader in effervescents, employ more than 1,200 workers on its two production sites.
Dynamic commercial activity
Agen finds its equilibrium between the commercial aspect of the town centre which offers a wide variety of services, cultural products and personal goods and the commercial activity zones in its periphery which are home to large French companies. In all, there are nearly 650 businesses which ensure in this way the commercial dynamism of the town. The area surrounding Agen is today located in a customer catchment area of 200,000 potential consumers resulting from the nearby rim.
The active population
Agen consists of more than half of the active population of its surrounding area and around 10% of the population of Lot-et-Garonne. Unemployment rate: 9.5%.
